The following are a few typical questions and answers you may have about FARESAVER.

What is FARESAVER?
FARESAVER is an electronic card approximately the size of a credit card, which is used to purchase bus travel.

How does FARESAVER work?
On boarding the bus, simply hand your FARESAVER card to the driver and state your destination. The driver will issue a ticket and the electronic ticket machine will eject your card.
The issued ticket will show the following:
  • the normal fare

  • the remaining credit on your FARESAVER.

This ticket must be retained for the duration of the journey.

How do I pay for my travel?
Simply hand your FARESAVER card to the driver and tell him/her how many dollars worth of travel you wish to buy. Your FARESAVER will then be validated for that amount and a receipt detailing the purchase issued to you. Please retain this receipt for your records.
Note: The minimum purchase of travel is $20.00.

Where do I get my FARESAVER card?
  • At our depot at 335 Mona Vale Road, Terrey Hills Telephone: (02) 9450 2277,
  • By posting your completed application form to our office
  • You may give your driver a completed application form and cheque for the deposit ($20 inc GST) and minimum credit of $20.00. We will return the card to you as soon as possible.

Who can use FARESAVER?
FARESAVER is transferable. If you wish other family members or friends may use it as well. Standard student and pensioner discounts.

How much does it cost?
The cards are expensive for us to buy and therefore a fully refundable deposit (Less GST) is applicable to each card on purchase.
FARESAVER is of sturdy construction and with normal care will last indefinitely. Provided the card is returned in working condition, the deposit will be refunded.

What if I lose my FARESAVER?
Because of its transferability the following advice is offered:
  • Always keep your FARESAVER in a safe place.
  • If misplaced, report it to our office immediately, quoting your card number which is found on the reverse side of your card. Please make a note of this number in case your card is lost or stolen. Once informed, Forest will make every effort to trace the card and have it returned to you.
  • In the event of the card not being returned, any remaining credit on the card and the deposit will be forfeited.
